This set includes three large ceramic mixing bowls in graduated sizes. Each bowl is made from heavy-duty stoneware, designed for food preparation tasks. The glaze is a solid light gray (stone gray) with a semi-matte finish. All surfaces are glazed except the foot ring. The bowl dimensions (small to large): Small – 7 inches diameter, 3.5 inches height, 2 quart capacity (1.9 L); Medium – 9 inches diameter, 4.5 inches height, 4 quart capacity (3.8 L); Large – 10.5 inches diameter, 5.5 inches height, 6 quart capacity (5.7 L). Each bowl features a pour spout molded into one side of the rim, allowing liquids to be poured out with less dripping. On the opposite side of the spout, there is a hollow handle integrated into the wall of the bowl, providing a secure grip. The bowls have a flat base for stability. The interior glaze is smooth and non-porous, resistant to staining from tomato, beet, or turmeric. The bowls are microwave safe (without metal utensils inside) and dishwasher safe. They are also oven safe up to 400°F (204°C) for baking or roasting, but only if the bowl is not subjected to sudden temperature changes. Do not use under a broiler or direct flame. The stoneware construction provides good thermal retention, keeping batters and doughs at a consistent temperature during mixing. The largest bowl weighs 4.5 lbs (2.04 kg) alone; the set total weight is 9.8 lbs (4.45 kg). The bowls are intended for mixing cake batters, kneading bread dough, tossing salads, marinating meat, or serving large portions of pasta. They are not intended for use with electric hand mixers as the metal beaters may scratch the glaze; use silicone or wooden utensils instead. The pour spout may still produce some drips depending on viscosity; it reduces but does not eliminate dripping. The handle is designed for support when lifting a full bowl, but the bowl should still be carried with both hands when full to prevent accidents. Cleaning: dishwasher safe, but hand washing with a soft sponge is recommended to preserve the semi-matte finish. Avoid using steel wool. The bowls nest inside each other for storage, with the small bowl fitting into the medium, both into the large. The packaging is a cardboard box with foam inserts. No assembly required. These bowls are not suitable for use on a stovetop or induction cooktop. The glaze may develop fine crazing (tiny cracks) over years of thermal cycling; this is common for stoneware and does not affect food safety.
